Today we were given our first photography induction of the year, allowing me to take out professional level cameras for future projects. I found the induction very informative despite being quite sceptical at first as I already use a fairly good quality camera and the session did not go past creative auto mode. However My camera doesn't have this mode and it actually created some fairly effective results. Actual manual photography is something I look to develop as my knowledge is fairly limited but gaining the ability to take these cameras out is a good start. We not only learnt about the cameras but also about the lighting that is available to rent, which again proved to be very interesting and sparked the potential for new ideas or ways of presenting ideas. We learnt about Rembrandt lighting, high and low key set ups, top and under and backlighting. There are all factors I have never really consciously considered and areas I will look into again before potentially using in future.
We were mainly just talked through the buttons on the camera and how the lights worked. Then we were given 25 mins at the end to have an experiment with the lights and cameras. Here are some products:
Potentially using the darken feature with red and green lights (above)
A far more saturated image with yellow and blue lights (right)
Using the intensity mode with red and green lights (left)
Again intensity with the red and yellow mode (above)

Change of light position effects shadows and contrast in yellow and blue (above)
an experiment using yellow light from one side and a mixture of half green half blue from the other leaves a slight tinge of blue on the block
