Arrows

>>Due to the practical, way-finding application of my typeface it makes sense for me to develop keyboard arrows to accompany the alphabet. There are a few forms I can work with within the building blocks of my face such as the shape bellow which features in all of my letters to some extent.

I experimented a bit with is shape creating the following

These two arrows work with just half of the rule shape to create forms that do have a line down the middle, giving continuity. However the one above has a very clear defined line which doesn't really fit with the rest of the letters. The arrow to the right doesn't look as semiotically strong as the other two ideas bit does fit the rule best. I need to decide which features are most important to include in my final arrow.

This arrow fits best with the typeface in the sense that it uses the rule shape twice to create a clear arrow. However one issue with this is that it doesn't have the continuation line that all of the letters have. This could be an issue when in a body of text. However I feel as arrows in this sense are primarily used at the end of words or signs to give direction, this may not be too much of a problem.

Another idea came from the 'this way up' symbol used on boxes.

This symbol is universally recognisable giving it contextual strength.

My variations attempt to convey an incline pictographically. The simple nature of the designs makes them good for stencil work if I decide to pursue this idea. However the doubt I have is whether they relate enough to the original typeface.

An attempt I had at combining the two styles had limited success. However its definitely something I could develop further.
