Yorkshire Sculpture Park - 3 visual typographic ideas

Inspired by our trip to the YSP our group devised these three pieces based on research from the Occasional Geometries exhibition, curated by Rana Begum from the Arts Councils collection. The exhibition inspired 3 quite different works all based around the theme of geometry. The piece I worked on was 3 dimensional structure that spells out ANGLE when viewed from different perspectives. My piece worked around the theme of reliance, inspired my some of the works exhibited e.g. Soda Lake my Nigel Hall. The ideas was to have multiple components using each other from a physical perspective to achieve one cohesive, geometric typeface.

In one of the other final outcomes there is also an element of suspension and the black B type structure also plays with the light and shadows (a key element of the exhibition). The final red and yellow structure is more inspired my Rana Begums personal work and uses deconstruction of the same form to create unique and semi typographic structures.

All together I would say we covered a good variety of the key aspects of the exhibition in our final pieces. However I would say in this brief, we as a group were far less collaboration minded than in the first weeks work. This could be something to work on in future group endeavour.
