brief two week two start of week review

After a week of PPP last week I expected today to be a bit of an adjustment back to brief two, as admittedly I didn't do enough development in my own time. That said I'm motivated to push on with this idea and see it into fruition so the day was fairly productive. My first area to develop was the diagonal line logotype from my short animation. The problem with the initial idea is that the actual type lacked complexity and was just a diagonal line clipping masked Futura. This wasn't flagged as an issue in my interim crit but I felt it was definitely a worthwhile development. I started by working on a different scale using literally hundreds of lines arranged in either radial (for the circle), square or diagonal (for triangle) lines, millimetres apart. I was laying out each line by hand on illustrator which took me all morning into the afternoon, although I worked out a slightly quicker copy, paste, scale technique for the final one. The end result created some very interesting line moire patterns when overlaid. This is something I'm looking to develop further tomorrow.
