after initial thoughts crit

This afternoon was used to start acting on the ideas presented in the crit. I like to start briefs fairly physically working in different mediums to keep myself interested and motivated after research. For this reason I spent the afternoon sticking together and cutting into 5 layers of foam board in the shape of an M. The idea was to build on the concepts raised in the crit and ideas sheet to make a contour like sculpture that could help me to visualise a practical application for that idea. The forms created were very pleasing and I feel the maquette will be a big help when presenting if I choose to go with this idea.

I found the idea looked better and better the less afraid I was to take away and abstract. The challenge now would be converting this to a 2D typeface for practical use giving more contextual meaning to the contours.
